  • NAREA Brick By Brick Series: A Study of the Principles of the Reggio Emilia Educational Project and The Wonder of Learning—The Hundred Languages of Children Exhibit at the University of Michigan

    May 12, 2017 8:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

The philosophy upon which the approach to education in Reggio Emilia is based and the work by the children and educators there offer us an invitation to question our certainties—to lose our balance. In our session together, we will discuss documentation from a nearby context where educators have taken steps forward by exploring the meaning of the foundations of the Reggio approach in the community of their classroom. Following the morning's presentation and dialogue, the educators of the University of Michigan-Flint Great Expectations Early Childhood Program at Cummings Community School will offer an introduction and visit to their center. The seminar will conclude with an opportunity for participants to share their reflections and questions regarding the experience of the day.

Featuring Karyn Callaghan, NAREA board member and Ontario Reggio Association president.
